There is an age old unspoken language between man and tree. The subject of my work is a dialogue with wood; the visual and tactile qualities of this receptive and soulful material are graphic food for the inquisitive participant. Here the vessels and supporting elements offer only physical reference to any functional object since their purpose is purely for aesthetic enjoyment. Abstract hand markings interplay with natural patterns and color. These are evidence of inviting intent and respect, whose voice speaks softly with confidence and resolve.

Born 1946, Los Angeles, California. Attended Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles, California (1966-69), where I studied graphic design. My creative background includes more than twenty years in the professional graphic arts field: art directing and designing record album packaging, advertising and marketing materials.

For the past eleven years I have worked primarily in wood. With a lifelong love of drawing, design and working with my hands, the transition from 2-dimensional design to 3-dimensional form was natural. The vessels are first lathe-turned in the woodshop, then the surface patterns are applied freehand in my art studio using pyrography (woodburning) and low-relief engraving enhanced with pigment.

I currently live with my wife Jo El Levy Logiudice in Ashland City, Tennessee where I maintain a woodworking/art studio full-time.
